KALEIDOSCOPE PRESENTS AT VIVEX ACCELERATOR TO DELIVER ROOM-SCALE PHOTOREALISTIC RENDERING SOLUTION.
December 6th, 2016
San Francisco, CA // 12.06.16 - Today Kaleidoscope revealed the development of their first software product for the creative community: an image-based rendering engine that integrates with traditional 3D content creation pipelines. In partnership with HTC through its four-month ViveX program, Kaleidoscope has solved one of the main challenges of creating content for room scale immersion: how to deliver photorealistic 3D environments to VR and AR headsets without passing them through game engine software.
Companies working in creative industries such as architecture, product design, film, visual effects, advertising and marketing, have well-developed 3D content creation pipelines that target photorealistic visualizations as part of their core business services, but adapting these pipelines to adhere to the game design principles that dominate the VR and AR industry requires a massive investment. Kaleidoscope's solution to this problem allows companies to retain their existing tools and infrastructure by processing a sequence of rendered images to reconstruct a full 3D volume for room-scale immersion. Once an image sequence is rendered, Kaleidoscope's solution takes only minutes to process and deliver the reconstructed volume, which is then viewed through its custom-built engine, currently compatible with the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. Web and mobile VR versions can easily be exported from the 3D volume by generating 360 stereo image pairs.
