The ultimate goal of VAGABOND is to share the story and impact of a city’s diversity by interpreting its various multicultural neighborhoods as characters and expressing the evolving history through dance, music, and real time rendered virtual reality. VAGBOND will be created with a mix of photogrammetry, videogrammetry and CGI along with a game engine. The game engine will be used to serve up the neighborhood the viewer unconsciously chooses and give the viewer a choice that feels seamless to the story of the piece. Even further, the participant will be free to roam and if they collide with a dancer, they’ll go into a portal that allows for exploration of archival photos, video and audio from that area.
The first edition of VAGABOND will be an exploration of different neighborhoods in Los Angeles -- from the eclectic ethnicities, to the creative communities, to the wealthy sections and the hard corners. In the end, you become a vagabond, floating through space, time and discovering the deep cultural history along with an imaginative future and an alternate reality.
